STOP STANDING IN YOUR OWN WAY

BY: FITZ-GEORGE RATTRAY

There has been so much controversy, blame and defense regarding weight loss, weight gain, overweight and obesity.

One side is ready to blame, judge and accuse and the other is defending the right to be overweight and happy. Of course this is just one of many excessively polarized topics in modern society. And as always the truth is both simple and never as simple as it seems.

There is more than room for understanding, compassion and acceptance. Nevertheless there are a few important although perhaps unpopular points.

For practically everyone struggling with weight issues, you are standing in the way of your own ideal weight, ideal health, ideal wellness, ideal probabilities of a healthy, less painful future.

We live in a time where the wealthiest to the poorest of us can access foods once reserved for Emperors and Kings. What is more, we can obtain these foods from a gamut of cultures. This should be a wondrous time for health and longevity.

Unfortunately a lack of facts, education and the overwhelming presence of cultural habituation topped with an ample serving of righteousness has locked many into an unfortunate path. This is compounded by the unbridled efforts of the cooperate food industry, ceaselessly promoting unhealthy sugary snacks, fast foods, foods filled with manufactured chemicals, excessiveness and the over-enhansing of foods, making their products more attractive, affordable and accessible. Sadly this effect drives up the relative costs of natural foods and ingredients.

HOW ARE YOU STANDING IN YOUR OWN WAY?

  • It is clear that the challenges are real, but mostly, your choices dictate your health outcomes.
  • Holding on to your cultural habituations, refusing to re-evaluate what you have come to know as normal.
  • Not seeking guidance regarding eating options
  • Not getting support in your nutrition and fitness journey
  • Not contacting your support when you are faced with decisions
  • Not accepting the advice from your support team
  • Thinking of weight loss as nothing more than a process to get rid of the weight
  • Thinking that you’ll lose the weight then figure it out after
  • Failing to recognize that the difference between slim you and overweight you, is not a simple matter of eat less and do more, but is a matter of mindset, emotions and a world of triggers which need to be addressed.
  • Thinking that one or two little things cannot possibly make such a big difference
  • Thinking that you eat clean but occasionally have a little too much and that shouldn’t be a problem.
  • Believing that you are not overweight or slim and you can eat junk since you cannot be at risk for all those diseases you heard are connected with being obese.

These are just a few of the mistakes which are facing younger and slimmer people at greater risk of grave illnesses, once believed to be for the old and overweight. You can separate yourself from this unfortunate trend. Avoid pointless suffering and death. The choice is yours, take charge of your support and choices. Call Intekai Health and Fitness for help in adopting a healthy lifestyle for you and your family, it’s a choice you will never regret.
